How often should I fertilize my Water Lilies?
We at Garden Ponds recommend fertilizing water lilies once a month. Pond Tabb’s fertilizer a special fertilizer that is designed to be used underwater by pushing the tablet down into the dirt (about 3-4″).
Aquatic Plant Fertilizer - 10-14-8
We use one fertilizer tab for a 1-gallon squat pot. CS300
1/2 tab for 6″ Mung pots
1/4 tab for 3 1/2″ nursey pots
We sell them in a 20 pack or a 100 pack depending on how many tabs you need.
We also use a teaspoon of Osmocote when we re-pot or upsize Water Lilies

Only after they have 3 standing leaves in the spring and keep fertilizing them every 2-3 weeks through the Growing Season. usually April- September here in Hawaii
A Few Tricks of the Trade
- Store Fertilizer in the freezer to keep them from turning to powder.
- Try to rotate where you put the fertilizer tab month to month.
- If its to hard to push your finger through the dirt its probably time a good time to repot.
- mix broken up powder in the bottom 1/4 layer of the repotting soil when repotting to help release fertilizer quicker
- use Strata when re-potting
